MMW was briefed on the news that morning that the SmartyAds SDK for iOS has arrived.

We’re told, the offering is lightweight and comes with ad quality control functionality, “allowing mobile publishers to choose the highest earning mobile ad formats.”

According to a provided release, the company’s SDK integrates iOS applications with SmartyAds’ SSP, allowing app developers to offer advertising inventory to demand partners worldwide instantaneously.

SmartyAds SDK for iOS Version 1.0 is easily customized and uniquely designed for each client. The SDK offers robust monetization tools for app developers, allowing them to manage advertising space, choose best-performing ad formats and optimize configuration settings. The IOS SDK is only 2.5 MB, helping to reduce app size and minimize discrepancies in mobile app’s load time.

“Apart from the newest iOS SDK, SmartyAds offers Android SDK for mobile ads,” an emailed statement concludes. “With ultra lightweight Android SDK, clients can easily leverage custom banner ads, interstitials and a variety of VAST video ads that enhance user experience. Using SmartyAds SDKs for iOS and Android, app developers can sell inventory programmatically through the SmartyAds ad tech platform.”

secret-of-mobile-appsA new app available through the Apple Store uses interactive video to make it easier than ever for businesses to connect with their customers.

Vaetas just announced the release of the Vaetas Connect iOS app. This free iPhone app is designed to serve entrepreneurs and sales professionals who are looking for a simpler way to communicate online when they can’t meet with customers in person.

“We kept hearing from entrepreneurs and sales professionals that connecting with customers online just seems so complicated these days,” says Jennifer Santoro, Chief Communications Officer of Vaetas. “They have been asking for an easier solution, and we believe Vaetas Connect will be just that.”

Those who sign up for a free Vaetas Connect membership will be able to send out interactive business videos on the go. This patent-pending technology makes it easy for any user to record or take an existing video, distribute the video to their customers, and allow the viewer to take immediate action with them directly from the video itself.

For example, the viewer can purchase a product, service or even make a donation directly from the video; they can contact the business directly through email or their mobile phone; or the video automatically can take the viewer to any webpage of the Vaetas member’s choosing (for example: coupon page, more information page, sign up page, etc.).

“We wanted business owners and sales professionals who had a fear of using video to actually have fun in their sales and marketing process, showcasing what a timesaver it is to use personalized video and the direct impact it has on their bottom line vs. writing blog posts for the masses in an attempt to ‘go viral’,” says John Rizzo, a founding partner of Vaetas.

Vito Santoro, the company’s other founding partner, says Vaetas Connect is designed for those individuals who “have a passion for what they do and are authentic in wanting to help their customers.”

“We want to support entrepreneurs in their business efforts, because entrepreneurship is the core of the human spirit; it ignites passion and solves problems,” Santoro says. “THIS is what we want to support as a company.”

comScore U.S. Smartphone Ownwership Nears 200 MillionEarly Tuesday, MMW was privy to an advance look at this morning’s announcement from  The Connected Marketer Institute (TCM Institute) along with Waterfall, the leading cloud mobile marketing platform.

This morning, the respective partners announced the formation of the TCM Institute Cross-Channel Messaging Council.

Waterfall’s Head of Strategy, Matt Silk alongside Rob Crews, former CMO of Ovation Brands and Church’s Chicken and currently a consultant to the industry, will chair the council.

From Tuesday’s formal announcement:

The TCM Institute Cross-Channel Messaging Council will focus on developing and advancing the value, strategies, and execution tactics for cross-channel messaging between marketers and the indivudals they serve. The council will accomplish these goals by forming a multi-disciplinary group consisting of marketing leaders from brands, marketing technology providers, media and industry associates. The council will focus on framing the cross-channel messaging landscape and developing educational programming, best practices and recommended standards.

“Today’s marketing budgets and resources tend to focus on the ‘tried and true’ methods to engage and influence people, like advertising and email, despite declining effectiveness in both channels.,” said Silk. “There is clear evidence that connecting with people at the right place, right time, with the right content, through the right channel drives improved business results. Though it may sound a bit cliché, the addition of channel is new and troubling to an already overwhelmed marketer. The Cross-Channel Messaging Council will be the first council dedicated to explaining how critical cross-channel messaging is to a brands strategy and their ability to move brand engagement from rented to owned media channels.”

business-690675_960_720This week, YouMail announced an update to the free YouMail Intelligent Call Management application for Android and iPhone that “automatically stops most annoying spam robocallers.”

According to an announcement emailed to MMW, this Smart Blocking feature addresses “a critical and growing consumer problem, as the YouMail Robocall Index revealed that U.S. phones were hit by a record 2.6 billion robocalls in both August and September.”

This problem has become so pervasive that the Federal Communications Commission formed a Robocall Strike Force to fight robocalls, which met on Oct. 26 in Washington, D.C.  At that meeting, the FCC commissioners stressed the importance of rolling out effective solutions to consumers as soon as possible.

However, users of iPhone and Android phones, which make up 99.3% of global smartphone sales based on market data by IDC,  don’t have to wait for the carriers or FCC to make progress. “YouMail’s flagship mobile app stops robocalls through a two-part process when a problematic robocaller is identified.”

“Americans are fed up with being pestered by the continual onslaught of robocalls, and they want to take preventative actions,” said YouMail CEO Alex Quilici.  “YouMail’s solution leverages its patent pending Smart Blocking technology that combines call patterns, call histories, user data, and user feedback to create and maintain an ever-changing database of nearly 100,000 problematic phone numbers in the U.S. alone.”

YouMail for iPhone can be downloaded for free at the App Store and YouMail for Android can be downloaded for free at Google Play.

largeOn Wednesday, Apple introduced iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus, “the best, most advanced iPhone ever,” according to Apple.

By all accounts, the new iPhone packs an array of cool features and cutting edge hardware.

The iPhones feature industry standard new camera systems, the “best battery life ever” on an iPhone, and water/dust resistance.

But one thing is, uh, missing. And a lot of iPhone advocates aren’t pleased. As intensely rumored in recent weeks, Apple nixed the obligatory headphone jack in iPhone 7 and revealed cordless “AirPods.”

Whether or not AirPods will ever be embraced by iPhone users remains to be seen. But for now, the critics are having a field day in the realm of fashion, where t-shirts are being used to protest this new reality.

One of the funniest shirts to become an overnight success on Amazon? “Bring Back My Headphone Jack” funny smartphone t-shirt targeting iPhone users.

Although the shirt doesn’t reference Apple or the iPhone directly (the makers are careful to skirt any legal problems), it’s pretty clear that the shirt is a reaction to what may very well be the newest trend in industry-wide smartphone technologies — the extinction of the headphone jack.

So… are YOU comfortable with this decision by Apple? Or are you more inclined to buy this t-shirt than the iPhone 7?
