MMW learned today that the 2018 Design and Verification Conference and Exhibition U.S. (DVCon U.S.) will offer attendees an intense, information-packed conference with 39 papers, 8 tutorials, 33 posters, 4 short workshops and 2 panels to choose from over the course of the four-day program.

Sponsored by Accellera Systems Initiative, DVCon U.S. will be held February 26-March 1, 2018 at the DoubleTree Hotel in San Jose, California.

“I am very proud of the program we have put together for our attendees at DVCon this year,” stated Tom Fitzpatrick, DVCon U.S. 2018 Technical Program Chair. “It is the must-attend conference for design and verification engineers because it continues to grow and evolve with the needs of industry. This year we’ve added some new vertical topic areas that I think attendees will find particularly intriguing and useful. Safety critical verification is a theme that attendees will see addressed throughout the conference, and the tutorials on Thursday afternoon are focused primarily on issues surrounding automotive safety and compliance. There is also a paper that will discuss UVM-based Verification of a RISC-V Processor Core. There is something for everyone at DVCon and our team of reviewers has done an excellent job of pulling the best for the program from an outstanding group of proposals,” Fitzpatrick concluded.

To get a more complete guide to the conference, Dennis Brophy, DVCon U.S. 2018 general chair, explains why DVCon is even “Bigger and Better” in his Welcome Message to attendees. You can check it out here.

Apple confirmed Thursday that the keynote address for WWDC 2013 will take place on June 10th, as the conference begins that morning at the Moscone Center in San Francisco, California.

Tim Cook will commence WWDC 2013 by presenting the keynote address, sources confirm.

In past years, Apple hasn’t been forthcoming about what announcements will be made at the annual developer’s conference. But this year, it’s a different story.

Apple has already revealed that the company will debut and demo the next major releases of both iOS and OS X.

As of this writing, other speakers and presenters haven’t been confirmed, but the biggest headlines out of WWDC 2013 will likely result from the June 10th keynote.

MMW will provide complete coverage of WWDC 2013 beginning with the eagerly anticipated keynote.

Although one hardly needs a good reason to head to Las Vegas, there is definitely a good reason why hundreds of prominent executives and leaders from across the mobile, marketing, retail, social, gaming, and hospitality industries are preparing to converge on Las Vegas.

On Thursday, Mobile Host: The Most Summit for Hospitality and Retail will kick off at the Mirage Hotel & Casino.

Fittingly, Darren Withers, Head of Marketing & Casino Client Services at mobileStorm, will be among the presenters.

Shortly after the event commences, Withers will present his eagerly anticipated session on SMS and email marketing.

Withers will discuss what he has learned from successfully implementing strategies for the likes of Zappos in Las Vegas, Caesars Golf, Landrys, Tao Group, Cannery Casinos and others. He will explain how these highly effective and proven email and SMS strategies can be implemented by hospitality businesses of all sizes.

Withers will be joined by other knowledgeable experts in their respective fields. Also scheduled to present on Thursday, for example, are David Jones of Shazam and David Offierski of Konrad Group, to name a few.

The conference is only scheduled to last one day inside the Antigua Ballroom, although if any of the scheduled presenters decide to recreate “The Hangover,” there’s no telling when the party may end.

So if Darren doesn’t show up for work after the convention… someone should probably check the roof.

Either way, MMW will provide more news and insight from Las Vegas as the conference gets underway.

Next month, Apple CEO Tim Cook will return for the annual conference put on by All Things D – D11. which will kick off May 28th.

Kara Swisher and Walt Mossberg of AllThingsD announced Tuesday that Cook will open the D11 conference.

Cook provided his first major interview as the CEO of Apple during D10 last year.

Not surprisingly, this year’s conference will also kick off with an interview with Cook.

There’s lots to talk about, from the explosive growth of the mobile market to intense competition from a range of rivals, most especially Google’s Android, as well as innovative offerings from Korea’s Samsung. It will be interesting to talk about the changes at Apple under Cook’s leadership, who took over from the late co-founder and industry legend Steve Jobs.

Swisher and Mossberg say they will also press Cook for clues about new products in Apple’s pipeline.

On Thursday morning, tickets to Apple’s 2013 Worldwide Developers Conference went on sale. Two minutes later, the annual developers extravaganza was sold out.

The fastest sellout in WWDC history, it took two hours – not two minutes – for the 2012 conference to sellout.

Generating stronger-than-usual interest this year is the revelation by Apple that both iOS and OS X refreshes will be unveiled at the conference this summer.

“We look forward to gathering at WWDC 2013 with the incredible community of iOS and OS X developers,” says Phil Schiller, the senior vice president of worldwide marketing at Apple. “Our developers have had the most prolific and profitable year ever, and we’re excited to show them the latest advances in software technologies and developer tools to help them create innovative new apps,” the executive concluded. “We can’t wait to get new versions of iOS and OS X into their hands at WWDC.”

WWDC 2013 spans June 10 through June 14 in San Francisco, California.

Late last month, the Mobile Marketing Association announced that it will present its New York Forum: Mobile’s Role in the Path to Purchase earlier than originally anticipated. Instead of June, the MMA is bumping up the event to May 8-10.

As of February 28th, registration for the event was open. Friday morning, however, the MMA sent out an email blast reminding potential attendees that early bird registration ends today.

“With 1000+ of the Mobile industry’s key brand, agency, technology and media influencers expected at this years’ event, the NY Forum reflects the growing power of mobile and it’s value in the path to purchase,” the organization says.

At this year’s forum, the keynote address will be provided by the senior vice president and chief marketing officer for The Home Depot, Trish Mueller. Muelller is responsible for the strategic branding and advertising direction of the company and its subsidiaries.

Prior to joining The Home Depot in 2009 as vice president of advertising, Mueller was senior vice president, advertising and marketing for The Sports Authority. She has an extensive background in the retail industry and has held senior officer marketing management roles at American Signature, a $1 billion-plus furniture store company, and ShopNBC, a home shopping network.

In 2011, Trish was named one of Ad Age’s “Women to Watch,” and included in The Atlanta Business Journal’s “Women of Excellence.”

“Join us for the 2013 MMA Forum New York as we learn how to get into the minds of the mobile consumer, deconstruct the path-to-purchase, and shed light on how the practices of mobile marketing are driving consumer engagement and profitable, repeat, revenues,” the MMA says.

Google announced Friday that registration for Google I/O 2013 will commence March 13th at 7:00 AM Pacific.

Last month, Google confirmed that its annual developers conference would take place in May this year, moving the popular event back a month from its usual June start date.

The event is currently set for May 13th through May 15th.

Last year, tickets to Google I/O sold out within minutes. And with the prospect of Google Glass involved this time around, tickets may go even faster.

Prices start at $900 for general attendees or $300 for academic attendees.

For now, Google isn’t saying much else about this year’s conference except that Android owners should set up their Google Wallet and Google+ accounts before registration begins.

Do you plan to attend?

Venerable tech giant Apple is going to present at the 2012 Black Hat security conference this week, marking the first time the iDevice maker has appeared in a formal capacity at the event.

We are told that Dallas De Atley, manager of Apple’s platform security team, will deliver a presentation on “key security technologies within iOS.”

It’s significant because in recent years, Apple products have been stripped of their image of being hack-proof. The company’s rise has made it a bigger target, as hackers have been discovering bugs in the iPhone since it came out in 2007. Earlier this year, more than 600,000 Macs were infected, the first major malicious software attack targeting Apple computers.

According to Bloomberg, De Atley has the support and permission from Apple to attend and address the conference.

“Bottom line — no one at Apple speaks without marketing approval,” Trey Ford, Black Hat’s general manager, tells Bloomberg. “Apple will be at Black Hat 2012, and marketing is on board.”
