To celebrate, they will serve up an “exclusive offer for iPhone X customers.” According to a provided media release, US Mobile wants to be the carrier of choice for all iPhone X users.

Ahmed Khattak, CEO and Founder: “The iPhone X is the most anticipated phone in a decade, and that’s why we are offering $200 back for anyone who brings their iPhone X to our new Super LTE network and we won’t ask you to trade in your existing device. We have the best network and plans for the new iPhone X and we want to prove it”, said Khattak.

Khattak continued: “The new Super LTE network is a fantastic addition to our GSM network as we have always strived to be able to serve any kind of user, no matter device, user habits or geographical location. By partnering with the two top networks in America – we can”.

Along with the new network, US Mobile is launching some unique unlimited data plans giving customers control of their data speed, and pay less if they don’t need “blazing fast data.”

holding phoneMost smartphone owners simply aren’t happy with their service. That’s the key finding of a new report shared Monday with MMW.

More than half of smartphone users surveyed for the 2016 Accenture Screenager Report are dissatisfied with their mobile experience and are ready to switch mobile providers.

The report in question comes to us via Accenture.

The 2016 Accenture Screenager Report is derived from data collected in Accenture’s 2016 Digital Consumer Survey, the company’s latest annual research report that investigates the attitudes, behaviors and top trends of consumers adopting and using mobile smart devices and related services. The study found that despite the widespread ownership and use of smartphones – with 80 percent of consumers surveyed now owning a device, up from 26 percent in 2012 – the majority of smartphone owners are unhappy with their mobile service.

Specifically:

  • 60 percent are dissatisfied with their connectivity and experience and would switch providers;
  • 62 percent are concerned about the security of financial transactions;
  • 47 percent are concerned about privacy and security; and
  • 83 percent are unhappy with mobile advertising interfering with their experience.

“Mixed data on consumer satisfaction coupled with flat growth in smart devices could be seen as a threat, but forward-looking providers will see an opportunity as consumers’ digital appetite has never been greater,” said Marco Vernocchi, global digital lead of Accenture’s Communications, Media & Technology operating group. “The key is delivering new, high-quality, multi-device and multi-channel experiences that meet the consumer’s expectations immediately. This requires smart, user-centric design that is guided by consumer insights gained through integrated analytics and supported with the connectivity, security and privacy consumers expect.”

T-Mobile Wants Mobile Video Junkies to 'Binge On'T-Mobile just rolled out a game-changing program designed to wow mobile video binge watchers like nothing else.

Calling All Cord-Cutters Verizon Plans Appeal for Millennials to Watch TV and Movies on Mobile“Cutting the cord” grows ever more … sharp, shall we say?

Cable companies are under duress as more and more customers either cut television packages due to cost … or just decide that they’d rather use mobile, anyway.

Verizon Communications knows this. And the company hopes to lure millennials into streaming live and on-demand television via their smartphones.

“The telecommunications company plans to announce this week the start of a free, ad-supported mobile streaming service called Go90, a reference to the behavior of rotating a phone to watch videos in landscape mode,” reports The New York Times. “Aimed at 18- to 34-year-olds, the service will be available to all users, regardless of whether or not they are Verizon customers.”

The plan builds on a wise observation by Verizon’s president of product innovation and new business Marni Walden: “Seventy percent of this group view on mobile first; that’s an enormous opportunity.”

“Executives made a conscious decision not to include the word Verizon when choosing a name for the new service, in part to appeal to as broad an audience as possible,” according to the same report. “That is important as Verizon seeks to bolster its mobile ad business and deliver to advertisers big audiences that watch premium content. Go90 also could serve as a marketing tool to attract new customers to Verizon’s wireless service.”

Reportedly, Go90 will offer an amalgam of live events, prime-time television, and original web series.

“Rather than the inventory of entire networks, included are popular shows from Comedy Central, Food Network, ESPN, NFL Network, and Discovery, as well as popular online series from AwesomenessTV, Vice, Tastemade, and Machinima,” notes the NYT. “Go90 will also feature National Football League games and live concerts.”

Word is that, though the offering will be a mobile-first product, execs think streaming options could work on traditional televisions, too.

The cord cutting is getting severe and something needs to change. If advertising is moving to mobile, why shouldn’t television?

Google Working on Wireless Deals with Sprint, T-MobileThe Wall Street Journal is reporting that Google is ready to work with two of the nation’s leading wireless carriers — Sprint and T-Mobile.

Google, sources say, wants to sell wireless service “directly to consumers,” an effort that inspired the deals being secured with the aforementioned carriers.

If successful, the move will likely “prod the wireless industry to cut prices and improve speeds,” according to sources speaking with the WSJ.

It isn’t clear how widely the Internet search giant plans to offer wireless service, how much it will cost or when it will go on sale. Google might start small by limiting the new service to certain U.S. cities or to users of its Google Fiber broadband Internet service.

Nonetheless, as the report suggests, this development is the biggest sign yet that Google is eager to broaden the range of services it offers.

YouGov Survey Mobile Operators Better Get to WorkOn Monday morning, MMW was privy to the findings of a new YouGov survey revealing that up to 74% of consumers would “potentially leave their current mobile operator” for better cellular coverage at work.

In short, the coverage at work is poor, coverage elsewhere will likely be sought.

The YouGov research commissioned by SpiderCloud Wireless indicates that consumers are sending a strong message to mobile operators that cellular coverage is as important at work as it is as home.

38% of all consumers surveyed said they would switch mobile operators to achieve better coverage and reception inside their office buildings, while an additional 36% were on the fence.

“Both consumers and IT decision makers share the common pain point when faced with poor cellular coverage at work. Today’s workforce is a mobile connected workforce,” says Ronny Haraldsvik, CMO of SpiderCloud Wireless. “The YouGov research findings from 2014 and 2013 show consistent feedback: reliable mobile coverage and capacity indoors is a critical need for today’s enterprise customers.”

More information about the survey’s findings will be available later today from SpiderCloud.

T-Mobile Topples Recent SMS Spam DistributionIn recent days, an unknown number of T-Mobile customers made noise across social media and on various online message boards about the sudden influx of spam text messages hitting their mobile devices.

The carrier, we’re happy to report, has managed to identify the source of the problem and stop it in its tracks.

The problem seemed to rear its ugly head towards the end of last month, and over the past couple of weeks. There are several entries on T-Mobile support pages explaining the issue, with multiple commenters suffering. If you have been receiving more Spam recently, be assured, you are not the only one.

Over the weekend, Tmo News shared a statement from T-Mobile that has since put many more minds at ease.

“Our teams have now identified and blocked the sources of the unwanted text messages,” the statement reads. ” We apologize to any customers who may have been inconvenienced.”

So what was the underlying issue? According to the same report, the majority of spam messages may have been little more than just a “miscommunication between T-Mobile’s SMS/Email gateway.” In short, there was an issue with tmomail.com — an issue that has been resolved.

iPhone 6 May Be Available Through AT&T Payment PlanWant a new iPhone 6 next month but need some time to pay it off?

You may be in luck this time around.

Apple, we’re told, is following the lead of other major hardware makers and wireless carriers by helping to make it easier than ever to buy a new iPhone and pay it off over time.

“Apple on Thursday quietly added a new payment option to its online storefront, giving AT&T subscribers who are in the market for a new iPhone the ability to make their purchase using installments through the carrier’s AT&T Next program,” AppleInsider reports.

Expected to be applicable to iPhone 6 purchases, AT&T customers will likely have an option to pay for their new iPhone over a 12-18 month period.

“With AT&T Next, customers can get the newest smartphone or tablet every year with no down payment,” says AT&T Mobility CEO Ralph de la Vega. “That’s hard to beat, and it’s an incredible value for customers who want the latest and greatest every year.”

T-Mobile Makes Impressive GainsMobile momentum has shifted in T-Mobile’s favor. The nation’s fourth largest carrier is now firmly planted in the growth column following a long period of reinvention that finally appears to be paying off.

On Thursday, the carrier reported earnings for the second quarter of 2014, confirming profit of $391 million.

All told, it pleasantly caught analysts and investors off guard.

“We have completely reversed T-Mobile’s trajectory and started a revolution that is changing the rules in wireless,” says CEO John Legere. “Now — with more than 50 million customers, 1.5 million customers added this quarter and five quarters in a row of over 1 million net new customers — we are proud to be the fastest-growing wireless company in America.”

Following the launch of its “Un-carrier” strategy last year, T-Mobile has benefited immeasurably from its innovations in the wireless industry, including No Annual Service Contracts, equipment installment plans, the JUMP! device upgrade program, free international data roaming, and lifetime free data allowances for tablets.

T-Mobile expects to add 3.5 million postpaid subscribers for 2014.
