Now here’s something to tweet about. This week, microblogging giant Twitter rolled out its new logo.
And it looks like the social network’s famous blue bird has “left the nest” so to speak.
The new logo is simpler than before but keeps the instantly recognizable bird at the helm.
“Twitter is the bird, the bird is Twitter,” Twitter’s creative director Doug Bowman says. According to PC Magazine:
Now sans the bubbled typeface, the dazed-looking fowl, and the trademark “T,” Twitter’s simplified logo was crafted from three sets of overlapping circles, Bowman explained. The concept is similar to how a person’s networks, interests, and ideas connect and intersect with others, he said.
“Whether soaring high above the earth to take in a broad view, or flocking with other birds to achieve a common purpose, the bird in flight is the ultimate representation of freedom, hope, and limitless possibility,” Bowman says.
