A Closer Look at Facebook Under The Influence

It’s the social media equivalent of the drunk dial – posting images of yourself on Facebook and across social media while heavily intoxicated.

Incredibly, a new study finds that this epidemic of plastered-Facebook-picture-posting is very, very commonplace all over the world, but especially in the U.K.

Over three quarters of the tagged pictures on Britons’ Facebook pages are of drunks, according to a survey carried out by photo book website MyMemory.com.

The fact that so many inebriated Britons are on Facebook was “certainly interesting to find out, particularly when you consider what this says about us as a nation enjoying a drink or two,” admits MyMemory.com co-founder Rebecca Huggler in an interview with Pocket-Lint.

“As the Christmas party season is upon us, there’s sure to be thousands more festive pictures uploaded on to social networking sites everyday; many of which I’m sure will also be fueled by alcohol.”

Almost 2,000 Brits took part in the test, with a majority also admitting that they haven’t made such public shows of drunkenness private.

Remarkably, just 12 percent indicate having made tagged photos private and only visible to themselves.

In the words of Billy Joel… I guess “it’s better than drinkin’ alone.”
