Apple’s iOS platform saw its U.S. market share climb during the fall of 2012.
comScore indicated in its latest published data from the comScore MobiLens service that Apple claimed 35 percent of the U.S. smartphone market in Nov. 2012, the most recent month for which this data is available.
Though still lagging behind industry leader Android’s commanding top market share, iOS gained traction against rivals BlackBerry and Windows Phone.
comScore found that Google Android ranked as the top smartphone platform with a 53.7 percent market share. Apple’s market share is just north of 35 percent. RIM ranked third with a 7.3 percent share. Microsoft (3 percent) and Symbian (0.5 percent) rounded out the top five.
123.3 million people owned smartphones in the United States during the three months ending in November, which is 6% higher than than the smartphone user base recorded in August.
