MMW was briefed on Tuesday by the folks at Vserv.mobi, a mobile advertising exchange. This week, the company announced the introduction of the SmartRewards ad format to create a “win-win proposition” for advertisers and consumers.
It’s the latest example of rewarding mobile ad engagement, a practice that many feel holds the potential to unlock new opportunities for mobile advertising.
In a nutshell, when it comes to SmartRewards, advertisers can engage and cultivate brand loyalty among users by rewarding them for desired actions. We’re told this will also allow consumers to top up their prepaid mobile account in exchange for engaging with ads, downloading apps and other actions.
SmartRewards will work across all media formats including banners, HTML5 rich media, video, survey forms, while supporting a variety of actions such as app install, form fill and video view. Top ups received via SmartRewards will act like regular paid top ups, allowing customers to use it for making calls, sending texts or connecting to the internet.
“Mobile top ups are a universally loved currency, especially in emerging markets where the vast majority of users are prepaid subscribers,” says Dippak Khurana, CEO and co-founder of Vserv.mobi. “Our SmartRewards ad format acts as a value exchange for the mobile ecosystem, giving consumers free mobile top ups, presenting advertisers with the opportunity to engage users like never before by rewarding them through effective advertising.”
