The GSMA Mobile World Congress in a globally recognized conference and exhibition that in 2015 alone drew in over 94,000 visitors from over 200 countries.
The last conference, as MMW reported in February, showcased over 2,000 companies that are the current industry leaders within their respective markets.
In a recent announcement, GSMA confirmed that they have signed an agreement with Barcelona City Partners to host the GSMA Mobile World Congress through 2023. In 2015, the 4-day conference generated hundreds of millions of dollars and nearly 12,675 part-time jobs to the local economy, and the annual conference is expected to continue to grow each year.
“We are very pleased to confirm that Barcelona will continue to serve as the Mobile World Capital and home of Mobile World Congress for the next eight years,” said John Hoffman, CEO of the GSMA. “Our 2015 event marked the 10th year we’ve held Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, and over that period of time, we’ve received tremendous support from all of our Mobile World Congress and Mobile World Capital Barcelona partners. We look forward to further building on our success together in the years ahead.”
