Hubspot is giving the world a unique look at the evolution of Google’s search engine.
From not good to ultimately better than great, Google has come a long way over the last decade.
“In the beginning, Google’s search engine really wasn’t all that good,” Erik Devaney of Hubspot writes on the company’s popular blog. “This was back in the late 90s/early 00s, when search engines were little more than keyword-matching and link-counting machines.”
For those early “SEO gurus” who gamed the system — achieving high rankings while adding little value for actual searchers — the fun wouldn’t last.
Today’s Google’s algorithm is an intelligent beast the likes of which we couldn’t possibly imagine only a few short years ago.
So just how much has Google’s algorithm changed since 2003? Check out Hubspot’s new infographic shared below for the most interesting search results you will likely find all day.
