comScore has just published new data from its comScore MobiLens and Mobile Metrix.
147.9 million people in the U.S. owned smartphones (62 percent mobile market penetration) during the three months ending in September 2013.
That’s up 4.5 percent since June 2013.
Once again, Apple ranked as the top smartphone manufacturer, while Google’s Android led as the No. 1 smartphone platform with 51.8 percent platform market share.
For the surveyed period, only Apple and Samsung (among the top 5 device makers) achieved any degree of growth.
Apple ranked as the No. 1 OEM with 40.6 percent of U.S. smartphone subscribers (up 0.7 percentage points from June). Samsung places second with 24.9 percent market share (up 1.2 percentage points), followed by HTC with 7.1 percent, Motorola with 6.8 percent and LG with 6.6 percent.
