Chase Directs Customers to Mobile App As Website Sputters

Chase Bank’s website is experiencing technical difficulties today and that’s not an April Fools Day prank.

Late Monday morning, Chase’s webpage began to sputter as registered users attempted to access the site.

“*ALERT* Chase Online is experiencing intermittent issues,” @ChaseSupport tweeted this morning. “We suggest using the Mobile app while we work to get things up to full speed.”

Today’s issues come just weeks after rumors circulated that Chase suffered a denial-of-service attack from an Islamist hacking organization.

At the time, Chase said the disappearing balances reported by an unknown number of customers were not related to any attack.

“The problems are an issue with the checking account portion of chase.com, nothing to do with mortgage or credit banking. We have a technology problem regarding customers balance information that we are working to resolve,” a Chase spokesman told CBS News last month. “It has nothing to do with cyber threats or hacks. It is an internal issue. We are very sorry to our customers for the inconvenience.”

Within hours, correct balance information was restored.

For the present time, however, there are no estimates with regard to when today’s glitches will be remedied.
