This week, despite disappointing some analysts and their endless array of lofty expectation, Apple reported earnings for yet another blockbuster quarter.
Nonetheless, Apple’s future always has little to do with its past. At this point, industry analysts are already buzzing about iPhone 7 despite the fact that we’re still 8 or 9 months away from seeing the next-gen handset.
So what else might Apple have in the works to dazzle the consumers and investors? Some are hoping it’s virtual reality.
“On Tuesday,” VRJournal reports, “Apple’s chief executive officer didn’t exactly say that Apple wants to become the next major titan of virtual reality technology, but the expression of his interest in VR was enough to send some hearts and minds racing with speculation.”
“I don’t think it’s a niche,” Cook said of the modern VR hardware boom. “It’s really cool. It has some interesting applications.”
Cook, naturally, didn’t exactly say that Apple is getting into the VR game. But some believe it’s only a matter of time before Apple joins Facebook, Google, Samsung and others in the burgeoning VR space.
