Last night, Facebook confirmed during its Q1 earnings report that it has now passed the groundbreaking 1 billion mark for monthly active users on mobile devices, including smartphones as well as tablets.
It should be noted that Facebook reached this lofty number without lumping in Instagram users – all 200 million of them.
Pretty impressive, indeed.
Understandably, mobile advertising revenue was strong. Last quarter it represented approximately 59% of advertising revenue for the first quarter of 2014, up from approximately 30% of advertising revenue in the first quarter of 2013.
“Facebook’s business is strong and growing, and this quarter was a great start to 2014,” said Mark Zuckerberg, Facebook’s founder and CEO. “We’ve made some long term bets on the future while staying focused on executing and improving our core products and business. We’re in great position to continue making progress towards our mission.”
