SMS API Provider Zeep Mobile Acquired By Vibes Media

SMS API Provider Zeep Mobile Acquired By Vibes MediaIn a blog post published this morning, free SMS API startup Zeep Mobile announced it’s been acquired by Vibes Media, a mobile marketing provider with an emphasis on SMS campaigns.

Zeep Mobile placed itself nicely in the niche of providing a simple API to allow any website or publisher to send and receive text messages to and from its visitors.  What set them apart was the fact they offer no volume restrictions on sending messages and the service is completely free to use.

Scott Robertson, CEO and Cofounder of Zeep Mobile, explained the basis for the startup revolved around answering the question; “why is SMS so expensive and what can we do about it?”  Though he admits it was a hard question to answer, Zeep has been growing steadily during its short two-year existence with the simple aim of allowing anyone with even a small amount of web programming know-how to interact with their consumers through a mobile handset.

Vibes Media is a larger Chicago-based mobile marketing firm that has years of experience in creating SMS campaigns for clients such as CBS, Tribune, Best Buy, AT&T, Verizon, T-Mobile, Accuweather and Gray Television, just to name a few, and has grown some 300 percent over the past year, according to CEO and Founder Jack Philbin.  Zeep Mobile’s self-serve technology will be integrated into Vibes’ platform, and was deemed a perfect fit by both companies.
