Angelina Jolie’s Journey Chronicled in New eBook

Electronic publishing has scored another huge victory over traditional publishing houses that typically require upwards of six months to prepare a new book for national distribution to bricks-and-mortar retailers.

This week, a new work from SE Publishing – the bestselling celebrity biographer of Tom Cruise, Steve Jobs, and Kiefer Sutherland – released the hottest new digital tome on Amazon: Angelina Jolie: From Crazy to Courageous, an unauthorized biography chronicling the iconic film star’s controversial past, her courageous double mastectomy, and the latest insight into what’s next for the celebrated humanitarian and Oscar winner.

The biggest story, however, may be that electronic publishing has once again illustrated its supremacy over traditional physical print publishing.

“We’re now seeing the transition we’ve been expecting,” Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos stated earlier his year. “After five years, ebooks is a multi-billion dollar category for us and growing fast — up approximately 70 percent last year. In contrast, our physical book sales experienced the lowest December growth rate in our 17 years as a book seller, up just 5 percent.”

With contemporary readers preferring their iPads, Kindles, and Nooks to old-school paperbacks, it’s no surprise that SE Publishing doesn’t plan on releasing its new book in any other format beyond electronic.

“This will likely be updated in the future with more news and information about Angelina Jolie, Brad Pitt, and their family at no charge to readers who already own the book,” a representative from the e-publisher said Tuesday. “You can’t do that in print publishing.”

With eBook sales expected to accelerate further in 2013, it’s clear that hot new topical titles from hot young epublishers will continue to drive this growth for as far as the eye can see.

Angelina Jolie: From Crazy to Courageous is available now for $4.95 exclusively on Amazon. Amazon Prime subscribers can read it for free.
