Although the unemployment lines remain long in the United States today, the mobile marketing industry is doing its fair share to put qualified professionals back to work. According to a report Tuesday from Wanted Analytics, over the past 90 days, employers and staffing firms have placed more than 4,400 job ads for Marketers with mobile skill sets.
If you’re unfamiliar, Wanted Analytics is a leading source of real-time business intelligence for the talent marketplace.
The analytics provider says the volume of job ads that include mobile criteria in the job description grew significantly over the past two years, as mobile websites and applications become a more common business strategy.
Hiring demand increased 16% compared to the same 90-day period in 2010 and more than 120% versus 2009. Mobile skills now represent 10% of all job ads for marketing professionals.
According to details provided in the published research findings, within the marketing field, mobile marketing skills are most commonly included in job ads for Product Managers, Marketing Managers or Directors, Business Development Managers and Directors, Category Managers, and Strategic Consultants.
Metropolitan areas with the highest hiring demand for Marketers with mobile experience during this 90-day period were New York, Seattle, San Francisco, Los Angeles and San Jose, all of which saw year-over-year gains in hiring demand. While organizations in New York placed the most job ads, Los Angeles experienced the highest growth, up more than 51% versus the same 90-day time period in 2010.
Are you looking for a new job in 2012? If so, you may want to catch the next flight to Seattle, Washington. Details provided in the report by Hiring Scale show that recruiters sourcing for openings in Seattle are likely to experience one the most difficult recruiting conditions in the United States.
“While hiring demand continues to grow in Seattle, the talent pool of qualified candidates remains small and recruiters are likely to face a talent shortage,” the report reads. “In addition, it is likely that Recruiters in the Seattle metropolitan area will see job ads listed online longer than the national average of 40 days (or just less than 6 weeks.)”
