Urban Airship is looking good in 2013. According to published reports today, the company has raised another $25 million, which will be put toward expanding its mobile marketing platform.
A fast-growing leader in mobile push messaging, the company says the $25 million came from August Capital, Foundry Group, Intel Capital, True Ventures and Verizon.
The last investment investment brings the total raised by Urban Airship to $46.6 million.
The funding will enable Urban Airship to arm more marketers with the highly targeted, context-aware solutions necessary to earn mobile customer loyalty.
Looking beyond the typical hype and inflated talk that routinely come from press releases heralding big investments, there’s nothing contrived or exaggerated about Urban Airship’s recent growth.
In 2012, Urban Airship saw revenues grow by more than 400 percent. In the process, they doubled their staff, won major industry accolades, and acquired another company.
“The pace of smartphone and tablet adoption is faster than any other technology, and Urban Airship has proven its ability to offer the largest organizations in the world the type of precision-targeting necessary to reach mobile consumers in relevant and meaningful ways,” says John Johnston, co-founder and partner at August Capital. “We’re thrilled to be getting on-board the Airship, and are extremely enthusiastic for the team’s vision for the future.”
