The curly cord is back!
It seems that mobile handsets are going old school. And if you’re among those who miss “the good old days,” you’ll likely be enamored with the undeniably humorous and strangely appealing retro handset being marketed to…well, that part isn’t entirely clear yet.
But, chances are, anyone who actually uses this thing will probably receive just as much attention – wanted or not.
Forget the latest Bluetooth headset for your mobile, the Retro Phone is a modern update and spot-on duplication of the Western Electric 500-series model, the widely recognized classic phone handset for the last half of the 20th century.
Remarkably, this “yesterday’s device for today” has been customized to be compatible with the headset jack of most mobile phones. Obviously very simple to use, you just plug the headset in and dial your mobile as you ordinarily would.
Although some have pointed out that using the Retro Phone will probably turn more than a single head or two, isn’t that part of the fun?
According to the manufacturer, the Retro Handset features:
- 2.5mm jack that will work with most phones (Motorola, LG, Samsung)
- Small button built-in to handset for answer/end
- Connection can also be made using a “hands free” adapter kit (not included)
- No batteries required
- The classic curly phone cord with connector
- Adapters now available for: Nokia, Ericsson, Siemens, etc.
- Works with Blackberry, does not work with RAZR or Nokia phones
- Works with iPhone (using Apple iPhone TTY Adapter, available from Apple)
