Apple Reportedly At Work on iPad 2

New reports have surfaced that Apple is preparing to launch the iPad 2.

Possibly for a December 2010 roll out, Apple is now at work on a new tablet that, according to PC World, delivers a 7-inch touchscreen.

PC World gleaned its insight from the Economic Daily News, a prominent Taiwanese newspaper that initially confirmed the existence of the iPad, which only went on sale earlier this year.

Last week, Digitimes similarly reported that a variety of Taiwanese companies are now producing the forthcoming 7-inch iPad beneath Apple’s customary veil of secrecy.

The Economic Daily reports that Taiwanese companies have won a number of component contracts for the iPad 2.

Chimei Innolux will supply 7-inch LCD screens, which use the same IPS (in-plane switching) technology found in the original iPad, which improves viewing angles and color on LCD screens.

Touchscreen technology for the screens will come from Cando Corporation, the report adds.

As one would expect, both Apple and the companies cited in the Economic Daily report declined to comment.
