iWatch: You'll See It Next Week, But You Won't Touch It

iWatch You'll See It Next Week, But You Won't Touch ItApple has already distributed invites to members of the media for its September 9th event where the tech giant is expected to unveil the new iPhone 6 and long-rumored iWatch, but only one of those two products will reach consumers in the coming weeks.

Re/Code‘s John Paczkowski says iWatch will take the stage next week, but it may not reach buyers until next year.

“So that new wearable device Apple is introducing on September 9? It’s going to be a while before anyone is actually wearing it. Sources in position to know tell me it won’t arrive at market for a few months,” Paczkowski reveals.

According to Paczkowski’s source: “It’s not shipping anytime soon.”

Unlike the iPhone 6, which will presumably ship within two weeks, iWatch’s market introduction will resemble that of the original iPhone’s debut in 2007.

“Remember, Apple didn’t ship the first iPhone until six months after its January unveiling. Which is not to say that the gap between announcement and ship date will be that long, just that it would be unwise to expect preorders for the device to begin on the Friday following its unveiling,” Paczkowski reminds us.
