Quest Visual – the company behind “Word Lens” for iOS and Android – has been acquired by Google.
According to a post on the Word Lens webpage, makers of the popular app are excited about a future at Google.
Quest Visual says the partnership will let Google capitalize on the “broad language coverage and translation capabilities” by bringing it to some of the projects in development at Google, including Google Glass.
“We’ve made both the app and the language packs free to download for a limited time while we transition to Google,” the company said in its announcement late last week. “We’re looking forward to continuing our work at Google – stay tuned!”
For the time being, no other details with regard to the acquisition have been made public. But the deal, we’re told, is done.
