With Apple’s Passbook proving that the iDevice maker is interested in mobile coupons, payments, and digital payment options, some industry experts believe Apple’s next-gen iPhone 6 (likely to be released in the fall of 2014) could support Isis Mobile Wallet.
Isis is finally ready to be a major prime time player.
Recently, the mobile commerce joint venture created by AT&T Mobility, T-Mobile USA, Inc. and Verizon Wireless, announced the latest version of the Isis Mobile Wallet is now available.
The Isis Mobile Wallet allows customers to pay at contactless payment terminals, and to save money through special offers and loyalty cards at participating merchants – but only from their Isis ready smartphone.
As of this writing, Apple’s iPhone isn’t Isis ready.
“Today’s nationwide launch of the Isis Mobile Wallet is a milestone for consumers, merchants and banks. It’s the start of a smarter way to pay,” Michael Abbott, chief executive officer at Isis, said last week. “Together, with our partners, we’ve built a seamless mobile commerce experience. We’re pleased to bring the magic and simplicity of the Isis Mobile Wallet to consumers across the U.S.”
But just how far “across the U.S.” the platform goes has everythng to do with Apple and its next move.
