MMA Webinar Set For This MorningThis morning at 11:00 a.m. PST, the Mobile Marketing Association will present an insightful new webinar that aims to debunk more mobile marketing myths.

It’s the latest in MMA’s free webinar series offering an opportunity to learn more about recent consumer surveys and case studies, TCPA, and other cutting-edge mobile topics.

On Monday, the MMA emailed a reminder to prospective webinar attendees asking them to register.

Space is limited on a first-come, first-serve basis, the organization says.

The MMA reaffirmed this week that today’s webinar will present “surprising new data” on consumer preferences. For example, three quarters of mobile consumers surveyed in eight countries would allow their location to be used by brands.

Further data from the USA results indicate that social media web site ads are ineffective with 71% responding that they were “not at all likely” or only “somewhat likely” to engage.

The Mobile Marketing Association put out a reminder today that it isn’t too late to register for next week’s webinar.

Turning Mobile Marketing into Consumer Purchases” is scheduled for Tuesday, June 4, 2013 11:00 a.m. PST.

“While mobile marketers have become very adept at utilizing the power, reach, and momentum of the mobile device to drive product interest and inquiries, conversion to purchases has lagged far behind,” the MMA says.

Challenges such as checkout integration, mobile site optimization, and wallet adoption and acceptance have proved significant barriers to driving more prolific product purchases on mobile devices. This is evidenced by the fact that the click-to-purchase conversion rate for the desktop is four times higher than that on mobile devices. What’s been missing is an effective way to turn the consumer “buying moment” into a call to action that yields an instant purchase.

According to the webinar’s description, the information on tap will help participants learn how to create a consumer experience “that is fast, efficient, and intuitive, eliminating the historical barriers to purchasing via mobile devices, without requiring merchant integration, by leveraging your existing online store, and overcoming digital wallet limitations.”

New information is surfacing about eBay’s mobile shopping successes this holiday shopping season. As it turns out, 2012 has already delivered eBay’s biggest mobile shopping day in company history.

This week, news came to light that December 9th was eBay’s “biggest mobile shopping day” ever.

On that date, eBay saw its transacted mobile volume spike 133% over what was 2011’s biggest mobile shopping day – December 4th.

Steve Yankovich, eBay’s VP of mobile, says that one-third of all eBay transactions are “touched” by mobile, meaning “users access listings or post via mobile even if the sale isn’t made on a mobile phone.”

“We’re seeing a change in the way people are shopping because of mobile, and this has turned the holiday shopping calendar on its head,” Yankovich tells Tech Crunch. As of this writing, eBay and PayPal forecast $10 billion in mobile transactions and mobile payments volume.

He calls the webinars an “outgrowth of our popular public workshops here in San Francisco.”
