Mobile Marketing Association Invades Canada

MMADuring CTIA Wireless 2010 this week in Las Vegas, the Mobile Marketing Association divulged further evidence of the organization’s expanding reach – growth that parallels the equally pervasive expansion of mobile marketing.

The MMA has announced the formal launch of its MMA Canada Council. Last year, the non-profit organization revealed plans to expand its presence globally in an effort to cultivate the “local focus” of mobile marketing around the world. MMA Canada comes on board in the presence of some pretty stellar company, including councils already established in Austria, Germany, India, Philippines, South Africa, Spain, Turkey and the United Kingdom.

According to Federico Pisani Massamormile, MMA’s Global Chairman: “The launch of our MMA Canada Council is a reflection of the continued growth of mobile marketing and demands for localized focus. In the past few years, the MMA has been able to build a global organization removing barriers to market development allowing for our members to meet regional needs. Canada represents a significant market for mobile and a growing membership base. The MMA is pleased to have a formal presence in the country.”

With North American arguably playing the most critical role in the expansion of mobile marketing at present, the launch of the MMA Canada Council is clearly intended to help cultivate the foundation of mobile marketing that has been established and well cemented across the continent.

“We’ve been working in Canada to create a strong national presence and properly launch the MMA Canada Council,” said Michael O’Farrell, Country Manager, Canada for the MMA. “I’m pleased to be working with the MMA and all the founding members who are eager to work with industry, academia and alliances to maximize the opportunities for mobile marketers in Canada.”
