They’re a voice and data communications company in Tampa, FL. (right in my own backyard).
So why am I telling you? Would you believe me if I told you that Syniverse Technologies is responsible for one of the most critical mobile marketing campaigns that exists in the U.S. mobile industry today?
Syniverse is the organization that was selected by a group of mobile carriers to fulfill the mobile carrier relationship service for the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC). It’s Syniverse that electronically alerts the mobile carriers to send out the Wireless Amber Alerts.
This is very high level but here’s what the mobile role looks like in the Wireless Amber Alert Process.
If you’re not signed up to receive these Amber Alerts, the Wireless Amber Alert organization provides a free and easy subscriber sign-up service that can be tailored to your zip code. I would encourage you to sign up.
To date the Amber Alert program has recovered more than 350 kids. How far has the program come? I’ll leave you with a quote from the Amber Alert site.
“In 2001, only two children were recovered due to AMBER Alert. In 2006, 69 children were recovered because of an AMBER Alert. Expansion of the AMBER Alert program is making a difference in saving children’s lives.”
